The New York Medieval Society strives to support educators who have devised creative ways of instructing students on the Middle Ages. The Teaching Award (of up to $3,000) is designed to help teachers (K-12) and faculty in higher education fulfill their design for a pedagogical program, which might involve organizing trips for students to visit museum and library collections, designing a short series of lectures, seminars, or reading groups for students, or developing extracurricular activities intended to edify students in any area of medieval studies. The NYMS encourages proposals focused on inclusivity and widening educational opportunities for students who might benefit from increased guidance and more frequent occasions to study the Middle Ages.
